Principality of Soleanna
A coastal kingdom situated mainly on an island. Although smaller and less populated than most countries surrounding it, Soleanna proves to be just as culturally vibrant through the worship of their patron god Solaris. Its main export, Soleannan Apples, makes up a large bulk of the world's most traded crops. Most of the kingdom's income is through tourism and trade credit via precision machinery.
The symbol of Soleanna is a great flaming eagle, believed to be a representation of Solaris holding up the sun. The red symbolizes the red apple trees that grow there, and the green is the sea surrounding the greater island that makes up the bulk of the nation.
HISTORY
A common belief is that the first settlers of Soleanna were saved from a great forest fire by Solaris, and thus formed the country. Those settlers' descendants make up the present-day royal family. Soleanna has had a long history of neutrality in world wars, often instead acting as a "peace zone" between warring countries.
The penultimate sovereign of the country was King Duke of Soleanna. His wife, Queen Olega, bore him a daughter they named Elise III— but the queen died just a few years later due to an undisclosed illness. It was in part because of her passing that the Solaris Project was established, in an effort to combine science and faith to restore those who succumbed to the illness.
However, a tragedy struck the kingdom during a field test for the project, taking the lives of the scientists and Duke with it. Only Princess Elise survived the incident, which destroyed the ancestral castle of the royal family and forcing the inhabitants to relocate to their summer home permanently.
Princess Elise was crowned regnant when she turned 16, and has remained the stalwart leader of the shattered country since.
